In 1986 Enkei became actively involved in motorsports by supplying 3-piece wheels to the F1 team, Minardi. In 1995 Enkei became an official supplier for team McLaren, which took championships home in 1998 and 1999. This team won four consecutive championships from 1996 to 1999. Enkei also supplies wheels to teams that race in the Japan GT Championship (JGTC), Super Taikyu, Formula Drift, Time Attack/Super Lap Battle, World Rally, SCCA, and D1 Drift.

All Enkei wheels are Spec-E. Enkei established its original test standard called Spec-E which is more rigorous test standards exceeding JWL requirements. Spec-E wheels represent Enkeis commitment to higher quality and safety, enthusiasm for racing, and passion for innovative design and performance.

Enkeis MAT processes make wheels strong and anti-flex. All MAT wheels are extremely strong and lightweight, which allows the car to accelerate faster and have more efficient braking, which in turn allows you to drive smoother and faster.

DURA-FLOW MAT: Enkeis MAT (Most Advanced Technology) process improves the molecular structure of aluminum and achieves wheels weight reduction without sacrificing the strength. By improving material strength and changing rim profile, MAT evolved into DURA-FLOW MAT. While improved material and rims profile optimize rims strength and rigidity, new rim shape accommodates high performance large brakes.

SUB-SPOKE: Sub-Spokes give the wheel added strength and rigidity to the main spokes. The space between the main spoke and sub-spoke reduces the wheels overall weight.

SPOKE DESIGN: Traditional, but innovative 5-spoke design. Unique combination of main spokes and sub-spokes that creates spoke strength with an elegant design.

METALLIC SILVER: Enhanced radiance of metallic paint components creates Metallic Silvers sharp and bright color. In order to create a pronounced and bright silver color, Enkei uses a six-coat paint process which is the same method used for high-end cars special body paint. Pure powder clear coat adds extra protection without compromising the metallic shine.

SBC (Special Brilliant Coating): Breakthrough technology has enabled Enkei to achieve a chrome-looking finish using synthetic coating and cosmetic techniques. SBC delivers a brilliant metal finish without the high maintenance associated with chrome and is used by Enkei for the Racing Series line to maintain lightweight characteristics and enhance the finish of the wheels.
