In 1986 Enkei became actively involved in motorsports by supplying 3-piece wheels to the F1 team, Minardi. In 1995 Enkei became an official supplier for team McLaren, which took championships home in 1998 and 1999. This team won four consecutive championships from 1996 to 1999. Enkei also supplies wheels to teams that race in the Japan GT Championship (JGTC), Super Taikyu, Formula Drift, Time Attack/Super Lap Battle, World Rally, SCCA, and D1 Drift.

All Enkei wheels are Spec-E. Enkei established its original test standard called Spec-E which is more rigorous test standards exceeding JWL requirements.
